Updated Odds for Panthers' Next Head Coach Has Eye-Opener at the Top

Could the Panthers make a surprising hire?
In this story:

As of Friday morning, the Carolina Panthers have completed four virtual interviews with candidates for the head coaching position - Panthers interim HC Chris Tabor, Panthers DC Ejiro Evero, Ravens OC Todd Monken, and Ravens DC Mike Macdonald.

The team is expected to conduct interviews with Lions OC Ben Johnson, Texans OC Bobby Slowik, Bengals OC Brian Callahan, Cowboys DC Dan Quinn, Dolphins OC Frank Smith, Rams DC Raheem Morris, and Buccaneers OC Dave Canales.

More names could be added to this list, but right now, that's the group which is what makes the latest odds on BetOnline a bit surprising. Currently, they have Chargers OC Kellen Moore as the favorite.

Odds to be Panthers' next head coach (BetOnline):

Kellen Moore +200; Ben Johnson +400; Mike Macdonald +500; Bill Belichick +700; Eric Bieniemy +900; Brian Callahan +1000; Frank Smith +1100; Todd Monken +1100; Mike Vrabel +1200; Chris Tabor +1600; Bobby Slowik +1800; Dave Canales +1800; Ejiro Evero +2000.

Moore did interview for the Panthers' job a year ago and was expected to get a second interview before the team made the decision to hire Frank Reich.

In his first year as the Chargers' OC, Moore's offense finished 21st in scoring (20.4 ppg), 13th in passing (232.8 ypg), and 25th in rushing (96.6 ypg). However, the success of the offense took a major hit when QB Justin Herbert was lost for the season in mid-December.
