What Happened to Troy Pride Jr.?
A few years ago, the Carolina Panthers became the first team in the history of the NFL Draft to select all defensive players. Two of those players, Troy Pride Jr. and Kenny Robinson, are no longer with the organization.
Where are they now?
Robinson signed on with the Steelers on January 11th and on the same day, Pride made his return to the league by signing with the New Orleans Saints.
Pride sat out the 2022 season as he continued to make his way back from the ACL injury he sustained in the preseason game against Indianapolis in 2021. The speedy corner showed some promise during his brief stint with the Panthers but he had his fair share of struggles in man coverage.
Recently, Todd Summers of WSPA 7 News in Spartanburg, South Carolina asked Pride about his return to the league at his 3rd Annual TPJ Day of Play event.
"It's not about coming back to who I was because I don't want to be that. I want to be better. I want to be one of the best."
Pride has quite the uphill battle to make the Saints' 53-man roster with Marshon Lattimore, Alontae Taylor, Paulson Adebo, and Bradley Roby all locking up spots. However, he could steal one of the final roster spots if he can add value on special teams with his speed.
Following the injury in 2021, Pride seemed to be in good spirits by posting the following on his Instagram account.
"Devastating to say the least that I unfortunately will not be able to suit up and go to war with my brothers this year. I've been playing football for almost my entire life and injuries have always been a part of the game and it truly hurts. It will not deter my determination, diligence and warrior spirit to get back on the field to do what I love doing the most.
"It's true God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers and His plan is never wrong. I'm living proof because I never thought I'd be here. I will be back better, faster and stronger than ever and continue to live my childhood dreams."
