What Mike McCarthy Said About the Carolina Panthers

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy previews the game against the Carolina Panthers.

Thoughts on Bryce Young coming out of college

"Really liked him. I had a chance to visit with him at the Alabama workout two years ago after his junior year. You could see just the intelligence. I thought it was really cool to throw for his teammates during the Pro Day. But as a player, very instinctive, excellent touch. I think his ball placement and anticipation is top notch. Definitely liked him coming out."

Bryce Young's size

"He's not the biggest person. Just like anything, your preference on what you're looking for at the quarterback position. Everybody has difference of opinions."

How long people should wait before writing off a young QB

"Three years. You got to be practical about this stuff. In this league you're always going to have injuries, it's just a matter of how many. And when you're in your first year as a quarterback or first year as a staff and you have a lot injuries, there's a lot that goes on with that. That's a big, big challenge. I think you just have to be realistic about any young player's body of work. As long as he keeps lining up on Sundays, I think he'll be the player everybody thought he would be."

History with Ejiro Evero and the job he's done

"Good man, good coach. You talk about the Vic Fangio tree, and obviously Vic's an outstanding coordinator but Vic's history is with Dom (Capers). There's a number of things that you see during the course of the week that remind you of Dom. EJ has done a good job. This is his defense. He's definitely challenging you schematically. This will be a big test for us."
