What's Next on Scott Fitterer's To-Do List?

The roster is never set. More moves are on the way.

Carolina's roster is in a much better place than it was a year ago.

They may not have DJ Moore but you could argue that the wide receiver room as a whole is much deeper. They return an entire starting offensive line they helped turn things around a year ago, and oh yeah, that Bryce Young fella isn't too shabby either.

Most of the significant moves the Panthers make this offseason have already been made but knowing how GM Scott Fitterer operates, the roster is never completely set.

So, what are some of the next few items on Fitterer's to-do list?

Extend Brian Burns

This, in my opinion, is top priority. Burns wants to be a Panther and he's clearly a big part of what they want to do. Pay him the big contract he deserves, lock him up long-term, and continue to build the defense around him. He will be playing under his fifth-year option in 2023, so there's no rush to get a deal done but I believe they'll get something done before training camp starts.

Add pass rush help

The obvious. Maybe DJ Johnson proves to be a solid pass rusher as a rookie. Maybe Marquis Haynes Sr. levels up in an extended role. Maybe Yetur Gross-Matos finally lives up to the expectations of an early second-round pick. Maybe, maybe, maybe. I expect the Panthers will eliminate those pass rushing concerns by adding a veteran in some capacity be it trade or free agency.

Find corner depth

The Panthers added Greg Mabin earlier this week but that won't be the final move they make at the position. It can't be. Donte Jackson hasn't played a full season since 2018 and Jaycee Horn has had his own fair share of injuries since entering the league. If either one of those guys do down, you're turning to CJ Henderson which makes Panthers fans a little queasy.
