Bryce Young to Miss Thursday's Practice
The Carolina Panthers announced that rookie quarterback Bryce Young will not participate in Thursday's practice as he continues to nurse an ankle injury.
Head coach Frank Reich told reporters Wednesday that he was unsure of the severity of Young's ankle but said he feels good about Andy Dalton if his number is called.
“If Andy’s the starter, we got a lot of confidence. This is why you bring someone like Andy in. Our goal is to put our team in [a] position to win championships. And even despite a tough start that’s still our vision, that’s still our goal, that’s what we’re working towards.
“And my experience personally, as a player and as a coach, is that you’re going to need somebody for one game or two or three or somewhere along the line. And you’re gonna need to win those games. And if Andy plays, we believe he gives us a very good chance to win.”
On Wednesday, the team brought back Jake Luton, signing him to the practice squad. Reich said he wanted to get a third quarterback in the building regardless of the injury to Young.
