FOX Sports' Craig Carton Says Bryce Young 'Belongs in the UFL'

Panthers QB Bryce Young is at the center of one of the most ridiculous takes in the history of sports television.
In this story:

Proclaiming Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young as a bust after just one year in what was a pretty crappy situation, is unfair, to say the least. But to take it a step further and essentially tab him as the worst No. 1 overall pick in league history is a bit much.

FOX Sports' Craig Carton went there when asked if new head coach Dave Canales can turn Young around.

"No. I said this when he got drafted, this would be a terrible draft pick. Bryce Young belongs in the UFL. Bryce Young is not an NFL quarterback. And I'm not saying he's not a great kid or a good athlete - clearly he is. But Bryce Young at 5'2" cannot be a successful quarterback in the NFL. And I don't care what Coach (Dave) Canales has done in the past and I respect his resume. I said a year ago C.J. Stroud was the obvious number one overall pick and if you took Bryce Young, you were making a mistake. As great as he was in college, as smart as he is, as athletic as he is he's not an NFL quarterback. He will never have great success in the NFL and it was one of the worst picks a team has ever made in the history of the NFL while picking number one."

The UFL? 5'2"? Is this guys being serious? This seems more like a guy who didn't like Young coming out of Alabama and is actively rooting for him to fail just to prove that he "got it right."

I, too, had C.J. Stroud as my top quarterback in the 2023 draft class. But even if the Panthers made Stroud the choice, I'm not sure he would have been lightyears better than Young. It was a far from ideal situation when you look at the supporting cast and then to have the back-and-forth handling of the play-calling duties between Frank Reich and Thomas Brown. No quarterback is going to excel in that situation, let alone a rookie.

Give the kid something to work with and let's see what happens.

Should the Panthers Bring DJ Chark Back?
