Jim Harbaugh Linked to Panthers' Coaching Job

Michigan's head coach is rumored to be in the running Carolina's head coach job..

As the coaching carousel turns, the Panthers are at the center once again. After firing their second coach in as many years, David Tepper may turn to a familiar name to try and return gridiron glory to the Carolinas.

The Athletic’s Diana Russini hopped on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd this morning and dropped the news that Carolina may be interested in hiring The University of Michigan’s head coach, Jim Harbaugh.

Russini said, “Let’s just start with Carolina, alright? You mentioned that David Tepper makes that firing last week with Frank Reich now out. If you remember, Tepper and Harbaugh had conversations last year. It obviously didn’t pan out, but this was something that they discussed. So that’s a name I’m hearing again.”

Harbaugh was suspended for as many games as he coached for the Wolverines in 2023, but the impressive turnaround Michigan has made under Harbaugh’s watch makes him an intriguing candidate for the Panthers’ vacancy.

Before Michigan, he coached the San Francisco 49ers for four years, taking them to three NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl.

His controversial 2023 season mired with suspensions and cheating allegations makes him someone Panthers fans may be split on, but his coaching acumen is impressive and he has succeeded at the NFL level. If Harbaugh’s CEO mentality is attractive to Tepper, he has a real shot at the job in Carolina.
