Panthers Block Giants' Request to Speak with Chris Tabor
The New York Giants are searching for a new special teams coordinator, but it won't be Chris Tabor.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Carolina Panthers blocked the Giants request to speak with Tabor about their special teams coordinator job. A team can block a request if it is for a lateral position or lower which is what they did earlier this week when the Jacksonville Jaguars asked to speak with Evero about their defensive coordinator opening. They were not able to block the Falcons' request to interview Evero for the head coaching job.
The assumption is that Carolina would like to retain Tabor as its special teams coordinator if he is not selected as the full-time head coach. The team announced earlier this week that Tabor has completed a virtual interview for the head coaching position along with three others.
