Done Deal! Panthers, Derrick Brown Agree to Contract Extension
Carolina Panthers GM Dan Morgan told reporters at the NFL owner's meeting in Orlando that he had been in discussions with Derrick Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, about a contract extension. He felt confident that the two sides would get a deal done and today, it happened.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Brown and the Panthers have agreed to a four-year, $96M extension with $63.1M of that being guaranteed money.
Brown set the NFL single season record for most tackles by a defensive tackle in 2023 with 103. He also tacked on 15 QB hits, seven tackles for loss, six passes defended, and two sacks.
It took the former first round pick a couple of years to really make his mark in the league, but now he's considered to be one of the top players at his position. With the team deciding to trade Brian Burns to New York, it essentially freed up some money to extend Brown, keeping him in Carolina through 2028 - a big piece for Ejiro Evero and the Panthers to build this defense around.
