Panthers Odds to Sign Mike Evans, Calvin Ridley

Will Carolina ink one of the top wide receivers in free agency this offseason?
In this story:

It's no secret that the Carolina Panthers are looking to add to its wide receiver room this offseason. The real secret is how much the Panthers are willing to spend at the position.

Do they throw significant money at a big-time, proven No. 1 guy? Or do they go with quality mid-tier signings to help improve the overall strength of the room? My guess is the latter.

From now until the start of free agency, there will be several free agent receivers tied and linked to the Panthers. Two of the biggest soon-to-be free agents, Mike Evans and Calvin Ridley, are potential options for Carolina if they want to take a swing at that top tier.

According to BetOnline, the Panthers have the fourth-best odds to land Evans (if not Tampa Bay) and the sixth-best odds to land Ridley (if not Jacksonville).

Best odds to sign Mike Evans

Kansas City Chiefs +200

New York Jets +300

Chicago Bears +500

Carolina Panthers +700

Buffalo Bills +900

Best odds to sign Calvin Ridley

Atlanta Falcons +200

Kansas City Chiefs +500

New York Jets +700

Buffalo Bills +800

Pittsburgh Steelers +1000

Carolina Panthers +1400

I'd be surprised if the Panthers were to land either of these two, considering the current state of the franchise. These guys want to go somewhere they can win and right now in Carolina, that's not guaranteed. Mike Evans does have the one year relationship with head coach Dave Canales, but I don't see that trumping a return to the Buccaneers or perhaps an opportunity to play with Patrick Mahomes, if it's there.
