Panthers Schedule Second Interview with Thomas Brown for OC Job

Is Carolina closing in on their guy?

The Panthers have a head coach (Frank Reich), a defensive coordinator (Ejiro Evero), and a special teams coordinator (Chris Tabor). Now, they're trying to fill the final big spot on the coaching staff - offensive coordinator.

Carolina requested permission to speak with Jaguars pass game coordinator Jim Bob Cooter about the job and there appears to be an interest in Eagles quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson. But the one guy that might be in the lead for the job is Los Angeles Rams tight ends coach/assistant head coach Thomas Brown.

Since entering the NFL with the Rams in 2020, Brown has climbed his way up the ladder very quickly. He earned the assistant head coach tag to his title in just year two with the franchise and moved from running backs to tight ends in year three.

Prior to arriving in L.A., Brown was the offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Miami (FL) from 2016-18.

The Panthers had to wait until after the Super Bowl to speak with Brian Johnson, so it's probably safe to assume that they will submit a slip requesting permission to interview him within the coming days.
