We're onto free style.

Mac Jones could hardly contain his glee about being removed from the New England Patriots in a video released by his new employers, the Jacksonville Jaguars. It's nothing personal against the Patriots, even if Jones could hardly be blamed for seeking refuge from the pressure-packed expectations of the post-Tom Brady realm.

But Jones appeared to imply that his exit from Foxborough allows him to resume one of his self-admitted unexpected hobbies, namely that of rapping.

“I like to do a little bit of rapping. I’ve got a couple songs. Nobody knows about it," Jones declared in a video released on the Jaguars' TikTok channel. "I’m letting the world know now that I’m not in New England."

The comments section simultaneously inquires about the supposed "Return of the Mac" and lauds him for speaking out against his New England tenure by any means possible. While there's no evidence for Jones' abilities either way, it perhaps stands to reason that he had little, if any, time or rationale for rapping under the ever-watchful eye of the no-nonsense Bill Belichick. An apparently sought-after return home to Jacksonville should perhaps afford him a chance to break out a new kind of cadence.

If anything, Jones appears destined to have his 2024 campaign defined by a headset: the fourth-year man, traded to the Jaguars earlier this offseason, is set to serve as the primary backup to current franchise man Trevor Lawrence. New England won't have to wait long for a reunion, as they're due for a visit to Duval County at some point this fall.
