New England Patriots' Legend Bill Belichick Coaching Lacrosse?
Former New England Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick has a lot more free time on his hands this spring.
No longer juggling NFL coaching responsibilities, Belichick appears to still crave competition and the 72-year-old has been whetting his appetite at numerous college stops throughout the country.
Last weekend, Belichick attended spring football events at Nebraska and Washington. This weekend, he dove into some Big Ten Conference women's lacrosse.
While Belichick's daughter, Amanda, was busy coaching the Holy Cross Crusaders to a 13-11 victory over Patriot League rival Lehigh, the legendary pigskin coach was present in the Windy City to support the Northwestern Wildcats.
Northwestern's official team Twitter account shared a photo of Belichick and Wildcats' head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller standing side by side on the field Saturday. They were wearing matching Northwestern caps.
With Belichick present in the Windy City, Northwestern pounded Ohio State, 19-10, to move to 8-0 in home games. Currently ranked No. 1 in the nation, the Wildcats have won eight NCAA titles under Amonte Hiller, who first interacted with Belichick in 2007.
Belichick has always showed an affinity for the sport of lacrosse. All three of his children competed at the collegiate level, and he seemed to value former Patriots' receiver Chris Hogan's history as a Penn State lacrosse player. After spending four years on Penn State's lax roster, Hogan played one year of Division I FCS football for Monmouth.
