New England Patriots Hosting J.J. McCarthy For Dinner, Meetings
J.J McCarthy will sit down for a feast, and he'll feast, and he'll feast, feast, feast. He'll feast on Pats pudding and rare Pats roast beast, all in the name of winning the AFC East.
Time will tell if it becomes as famed as the meal Dr. Seuss described in "How The Grinch Stole Christmas!," but the New England Patriots are hosting Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy for an extensive visit, per a report from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. McCarthy is reportedly sitting down for dinner with Patriots management on Sunday and a tour of the Foxborough facilities awaits on Monday.
Any Michigan alum who steps foot in New England will undoubtedly draw comparisons to franchise legend Tom Brady, and that pressure will increase fortyfold for McCarthy considering his status as a quarterback. Patriots management continues to do its due diligence on the incoming passing class, as it's widely assumed that it'll use the third overall pick on Brady's successor under center.
McCarthy is fresh off a run to the national championship with the Wolverines, as he was responsible for 25 total touchdowns on the victorious trek. He passed Brady in the Ann Arbor statistical ledgers, finishing his career in the program's top five in aerial yardage (6,226) and touchdowns (49). McCarthy is just one member of a deep, potential-packed passing class, which also includes his fellow Foxborough visitors Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye.
The drama around the Patriots' third pick, its highest since Drew Bledsoe was summoned with the opening choice in 1993, will soon be over, as the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway on Apr. 25 in Detroit.
