Fore! New England Patriots' Marcus Jones Makes Pro Golf Debut

New England Patriots cornerback/returner can officially add "dual-sport athlete" to his resume.

As if Marcus Jones wasn't versatile enough on the football field, he's now taking his talents to the golf course as well.

This week, the New England Patriots cornerback and return man is making his golf debut at the Club Car Championship Pro Am in Savannah, Georgia, and he's not the only NFL player in attendance.

Jones is part of a group knwon as Fore Athletes, a team consisting of football players that also partake in golf. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joshua Dobbs is also part of the same group.

“They ended up talking to me about Fore Athletes,” Jones told WSAV. “I was like, ‘I love what you guys are putting together and I definitely want to be a part of it. We’ve just been grinding ever since trying to get athletes into the game of golf.” I was blessed to get introduced to the game of golf at four years old, so I kind of have a little more underneath my belt and I try to help the guys as much as I can.”

Jones, 25, burst onto the scene during his rookie season in 2022. The former Houston Cougar led the league with 362 punt return yards (12.5 yards per return), with his highlight being a game-winning return touchdown against the New York Jets. Jones was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team and earned a first-team All-Pro selection for his return efforts.

After such a promising rookie campaign, Jones only played in two games in 2023 as he suffered a torn labrum early in the season. He has said his recovery is going well, so if it continues to do so, Patriots fans should see him back on the field this fall.
