Ty Law provided impeccable defense for Bill Belichick for over a decade, so he hardly needed a documentary to prompt him into another launch.

New England Patriots defensive legends have come out of the gridiron woodwork to defend Belichick in the wake of perceived unfair portrayal on Apple's "The Dynasty," a 10-part docuseries that offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the prosperous, if not tumultuous, years of the franchise's glory days.

While many have recalled Belichick's impact as a head coach, Law recalled Belichick's original days in New England, when he served as the team's defensive backs coach for a year under Bill Parcells after his time at the helm of the Cleveland Browns fizzled out. Law, then a second-year man, lauded Belichick's meticulous game-planning on a recent episode of fellow former Patriot Julian Edelman's "Games with Names" web series.

"What he does from a game-plan perspective, I've never been with another coach or another organization that is that prepared at all times," Law said. "He made you feel comfortable ... I think that separates Bill from everyone else, his adjustments and how he looks at the game."

Together with fellow rising secondary man Lawyer Milloy, Law was part of a potential-packed Patriots' defense that helped the franchise reach its second Super Bowl and first in 11 years. Though New England fell to Green Bay in the championshp finale, Law offered signs of what was to come alongside fellow future champions Milloy, Tedy Bruschi, Willie McGinest, and Otis Smith.

Belichick will forever go down as wearer of the Patriots' top headset, but Law claimed that his work as a positional coach, especially one dealing with so much future firepower, should be equally cherished.

"Belichick, he was my DB coach, which I loved by the way, because you had to do the least amount of studying when he's your coach because he's done it all. Everything that he says is going to happen is going to happen," the Hall-of-Famer Law told Edelman of his unique perspective of the Belichick experience. "Belichick had you in such a great position mentally that you went into the game so confident and saying that if anything happens put it on him but guarantee this is going to happen. That's how he was as a coach."

It took the Patriots just a little while longer to fully realize the potential Law spoke of: Belichick would follow then-head coach Bill Parcells for a three-year stint with the New York Jets. New England had him back in the top spot by the turn-of-the-century and, as Law and his defensive compatriots will be more than happy to remind you, is history.
