Well, that escalated quickly.

The New England Patriots lead by 20 points after the first half thanks in large part to their rookie receivers.

UDFA Jakobi Meyers has already made a strong case to make the team and his stock continues to rise after a dominant first half.

In his first half of action as a Patriot, the former North Carolina State WR  has put up five receptions for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Not too shabby for a guy who failed to hear his name called in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Hoyer connected with Meyers mid-way through the second quarter for the first touchdown reception of his career.

Speaking of firsts, how has the first-round pick out of Arizona State looked in his first NFL action?

Hoyer connected with N'keal Harry made his first NFL reception as a Patriot late in the first quarter for an 11-yard gain. His second catch may have been even better.

Harry left the game with after re-aggravating a hamstring injury that he suffered earlier this week. It doesn't look too serious but don't expect to see much of Harry the rest of the night.

Maurice Harris also got in on the fun.

As for the quarterbacks, the Lions have failed to do anything to slow these guys down.

Hoyer was systematic in his limited action shredding Detroit's defense for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

Fourth-round pick Jarrett Stidham has looked good in just a half of a quarter completing four passes on six attempts for 46 yards and a score. Stidham connected with fellow rookie Meyers for his first touchdown pass as a Patriot.

Stidham will likely play the rest of the game at QB for New England, so we'll get a better look at the rookie in the second half.
