The New England Patriots' first offseason programs under head coach Jerod Mayo will be starting shortly, as the NFL announced official spring and summer schedules Friday.

New England's first day is April 8, when players will arrive at the facility and participate in workouts with the strength staff.

Voluntary minicamp follows thereafter, running from April 23-24, before leading into the 2024 NFL Draft, which takes place immediately after on April 25-27 in Detroit.

The Patriots haven't announced when they'll hold their rookie minicamp, but teams across the league have two windows - the first goes from May 3-6 and the second from May 10-13.

After rookie minicamp, New England begins OTAs. Here's a look at the OTAs schedule ...

May 20-21

May 23

May 29-31

June 3-4

June 6-7

New England concludes its early phase June 11-13, when it conducts mandatory minicamp before entering the dead period leading into training camp.

The Patriots haven't yet announced when training camp begins; they started July 26 last summer, when Mayo was on staff as linebackers coach, and will likely follow a similar path this season.

For New England, the biggest question of this offseason starts under center, where a vacancy is expected to be filled at No. 3 overall in April's draft.

The Patriots' decision will likely be dictated by the Washington Commanders, who own the No. 2 overall selection. Caleb Williams is expected to be drafted No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears, leaving Washington with its choice of signal callers - North Carolina's Drake Maye, LSU's Jayden Daniels and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy are the favorites.

New England's true preparation for next season won't officially start until a quarterback is selected - but ready or not, the dates of training are finalized, and the only task left at hand is to fill the Tom Brady-sized void under center.
