DeAndre Final Decision: Patriots in 2-Team Race to Sign Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins’ decision? It seems he’s narrowed his choices to the Pats and one more suitor.
In this story:

DeAndre Hopkins has taken visits with both the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots, his tour of Foxboro going well enough that he posted a "La Familia” social media note.

And now it seems he’s narrowed his choices to the Pats and one more suitor.

According to our ESPN friend Dianna Russini, both of the franchises have made offers to “Nuk” and he is presently weighing the proposals as his final two options.

During his two-day visit with the Patriots, Hopkins posed for a photo with New England pass-rusher Matthew Judon. That’s where the "La Familia” caption popped up. And it’s also the origin of Judon labeling himself a candidate for “GM of the year.”

After Hopkins' visit, we reported on the sense of "optimism" that a deal could get done here. Hopkins has essentially been a $20 million APY star, though there are reports - dubious, we’ve thought - that he might have to settle for a one-year deal at as little as $8 million.

The Patriots have long struggled to employ a true full-service star at the position of wide receiver, who numerous failed efforts by coach Bill Belichick and staff in the NFL Draft and beyond. A signing like this would obviously be of help in the development of QB Mac Jones and could in theory push the Pats back up to contention in the tough AFC East.
