Report: Giants Hire Joe Judge as Head Coach
Joe Judge, who was formerly the special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach for the New England Patriots, has been hired by the New York Giants to be their next head coach, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
The lone head-coaching interview Judge had was with the Giants, and apparently left enough of an impression to get the job.
As Rapoport noted after breaking the news, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick knew early on that Judge was head-coaching material, which is why he would meet with the special team coordinator on a regular basis to go over program-building and what it takes to be a head coach.
Now that Judge has been fired by New York and the Panthers have hired Baylor coach Matt Rhule to be their next head coach, that leaves the Browns as the final organization that is need of a head coach, and the final team offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could land a head-coaching job with.
McDaniels is scheduled to meet with Cleveland on Friday, but that interview could be bumped up to a sooner date now that the Browns are the lone organization left without a head coach.
