Raiders' WR Defends Jakobi Meyers: ‘Not Featured’ on Patriots

Former New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers signed a three-year $33 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason.

Since being drafted in 2014, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has proven to be one of the NFL's elite pass-catchers.

And even after being traded from the Green Bay Packers - where he spent his first eight career seasons - the six-time Pro Bowler led the league in receiving touchdowns (14) to go along with 1,516 yards and 100 receptions in 2022.

But with last season's No. 2 wide receiver Mack Hollins signing with the Atlanta Falcons this offseason, the Raiders landed former New England Patriots wideout Jakobi Meyers to a three-year $33 million contract.

An undrafted free agent in 2019, Meyers had compiled more receptions and receiving yards than any member of the Patriots over the past four seasons.

However, Meyers newest teammate believes that New England could have utilized him even more over his tenure.

"I didn't see him featured as much as maybe he should have been based on what I saw when [the Patriots] came here and we practiced against them [last summer], and so far what I've seen from him now," Adams said per the Las Vegas Sun. "He's a pro. He's got a lot of tools on the field, and the way he thinks about the game as a relatively young player is impressive to me, so I'm excited to work alongside him."

Las Vegas head coach Josh McDaniels, who spent over a decade on the Patriots' staff, worked with Meyers over his first three career seasons.

"It doesn't matter how you get somewhere, it just matters what you do once you get there," McDaniels said. "Jakobi had a great attitude from the moment I was able to work with him … and he's just continued."

New England signed wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason in hopes of replicating Meyers production.
