Patriots Battling Ravens for Free Agent Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers?
The New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens both need help at wide receiver this offseason, and if CBS Sports is correct, they could battle for the signature of Jakobi Meyers.
In their article, CBS Sports named Meyers as the best fit for the Ravens.
"Rashod Bateman is the No. 1 in Baltimore, but Meyers would be an excellent complement in the slot," CBS said of Meyers. "While the touchdown numbers haven't been great in his career, Meyers does have 1,670 receiving yards and eight touchdowns over his last two seasons."
Despite never having a 1,000-yard receiving season, Meyers was an important member of the Patriots' offense.
Even as the offense struggled in 2022 with a passing game that lacked consistency, the former North Carolina State product was New England's leading receiver with 804 yards and six touchdowns.
Meyers' ability to play inside and out gave versatility to the Patriots' offense, and his route running made him a reliable go-to receiver for quarterback Mac Jones. Losing Meyers would mean the Patriots would not have to add a true No. 1 option; they'd have to find Meyers's replacement.
So what would it take for either side to land Meyers?
A recent projection from Bleacher Report predicts that Meyers would take a three-year deal worth $36 million, a very affordable deal for New England who boasts over $32 million in cap space.
