NFL Head Coach Rankings: Patriots' Belichick Still No. 1?

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has won 298 games and six Super Bowls in his 23 seasons, but is he still considered one of the NFL's best?
In this story:

When it's all said and done, there is no doubt New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will be enshrined in Canton and considered among the all-time greats.

A six-time Super Bowl champion, three-time Coach of the Year and 298 career wins (and counting), with no clear indicator that he's ready to hang it up just yet.

However, is the future Hall of Famer still among the best current NFL head coaches? CBS Sports believes so, recently ranking him No. 3, just behind the San Francisco 49ers' Kyle Shanahan and Kansas City Chiefs' Andy Reid.

"All-time great? Obviously," CBS Sports writes. "Still-respected defensive strategist? No doubt. But for all his stringent and resilient qualities, Belichick has to be held responsible for the 25-26 mark (including playoffs) since Tom Brady's exit. His curious staffing and personnel choices hurt the Patriots' offensive growth in 2022, and he's still betting on a control-the-clock approach with an unproven QB. The reason he's still this high? To this day, no opponent comes to New England expecting anything less than a Grade-A challenge."

Entering his 24th season at the helm, Belichick has failed to reach the postseason in two of the last three years - his worst stretch since taking the position in 2000. And since a certain player named Tom Brady left, Belichick's Pats are only 25-25.

But after an offseason of rumors surrounding his and third-year quarterback Mac Jones' job security, Belichick appears ready to lead New England to the playoffs once again and prove why he's still among the league's best.
