After Picking Cowboys to Win Super Bowl, Patriots Icon Gronk Now Blasting Them: 'Losers'!
Rob Gronkowski made a living - and carved a path toward the Pro Football Hall of Fame - on his perfection of the option route.
As soon as he sensed a defender zigging, Gronk simply zagged. It worked to the tune of 92 receiving touchdowns, third-most in NFL history for a tight end behind only Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez.
Now as TV analyst and NFL insider, the former New England Patriots star is implementing the strategy. Leaning one way, only to swiftly change directions to both produce positive results and, perhaps, hedge his bets.
For example, this was Gronk in August picking the Dallas Cowboys to win Super Bowl LVIII:
"I'm going to go with the Dallas Cowboys," Gronkowski told Up & Adams host Kay Adams. "They added Brandin Cooks at the wide receiver position, (he's) a super fast player, can go downfield, he'll be a great complement to CeeDee Lamb. Also, they added Stephon Gilmore ... he was Defensive Player of the Year a couple of years ago and I think he's going to make a great comeback this year and play at a high level."
Zig, meet zag. This is Gronk this week, now saying those same Cowboys not only won't win the championship, but aren't capable of winning a single road playoff game.
"They had another chance to prove they could win on the road and they proved everyone right that they can't win on the road vs. the Miami Dolphins," Gronkowski said on the same show with Adams, only four months later. "No one really believes in them. That's just out the window about the Dallas Cowboys winning in the playoffs now."
Gronk, however, wasn't done with this route. He went on to criticize Cowboys' star linebacker Micah Parsons for ... having the audacity to criticize San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Brock Purdy.
"There's a saying out there,'' Gronk said. "Losers focus on winners and winners focus on winning. If you want to be a winner, you've just got to focus on winning. It's really weird. Micah Parsons is one of the best defensive players in the league. He might win Defensive Player of the Year this year. But it's weird that he's tweeting that after a loss vs. Miami in Miami and then he's tweeting that about a team that absolutely dismantled the Cowboys when they play them this year."
Amid Purdy's four-interception game in Monday night's loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Parsons tweeted: "Down 21 and there no shots or development throws! Should tell you all you need to know!”
Gronk thought that was weird.

Then Parsons responded, in a another tweet saying "Prime example of, 'Let’s attack the person rather than addressing the topic!' Yeah. Because it’s so weird a football player is talking about football on a web site where you can write your own thoughts and opinions!''
Zagged Gronk, again, "Weird."
The same can be said for the about-face pick on the Cowboys' season by the Patriots icon.
