Right Guy, Wrong Team: Damien Harris Now Patriots' Enemy?

Once a productive a beloved member of the New England Patriots, Damien Harris is now a member of the rival Buffalo Bills.
In this story:

Damien Harris was a hub of the New England Patriots, and a superfan of Boston sports.

Now - in the latest chapter of nothing lasts forever - he's ... the enemy?

Harris led the Pats in rushing in 2020 and 2021, before last season giving up carries and production to burgeoning star Rhamondre Stevenson. Besides his loyalty and passion, Harris will be remembered for his 64-yard touchdown run during a winter hurricane that propelled New England to an iconic victory over the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on Dec. 6, 2021.

For the Pats, it's been all downhill since that night.

That win pushed their winning streak to seven and their record to 9-4 and in seeming control of the AFC East. But since that game they are 9-13 with a 30-point shellacking in their only playoff appearance - at that same Buffalo stadium.

This week was a bitter pill for Pats fans as Harris was essentially shoved out the door by the team. He left in free agency, to none other than the Bills. He now plays for the team that has won the last three AFC East titles and has dominated the Pats since that memorably windy night in 2021.

When he posted his move to Orchard Park on his Instagram, it drew comments from former teammates who were only mirroring the feelings of fans throughout Foxboro.

While Stevenson is clearly New England's No. 1 back heading into 2023, Harris will be replaced by second-year runners Pierre Strong Jr. and Kevin Harris, and newly signed former Jacksonville Jaguar/New York Jet James Robinson.
