'Never!' Darrelle Revis Reveals Patriots 'Super' Loyalty on Hall of Fame Path

Darrelle Revis will likely never be remembered as a New England Patriot but he earned an elusive Super Bowl championship with a Flying Elvis on his helmet.
In this story:

Darrelle Revis will do anything for New York Jets fans. Well, almost anything.

Soon to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Revis is best known for his time with the Jets, the New England Patriots' long-running divisional rival. But with the Jets' hard-luck postseason woes well-documented, it was a visit to Foxborough that allowed Revis to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy, doing so when he played the 2014-15 season with the Patriots and partook in their victorious run to Super Bowl XLIX.

That has done little to erase the good memories made in green, as he spent two terms as a Jet (2007-12, 2015-16). Revis remains beloved by Jets fans and will often be more than happy to return the feeling ... with the exception of one request.

One fan, long-suffering in his apparent love of both the Jets and their equally-hexed baseball brothers, the New York Mets (the latter fandom implied by his dislike of former Met and current Texas Ranger Jacob DeGrom), politely asked Revis to "renounce the Super Bowl and the year you played for New England."

Revis' response, much like his Canton-worthy play on the field, was swift and speedy.

"Never," Revis simply declared, capping his post off with a laughing emoji.

The obvious allure of a Super Bowl victory notwithstanding, Revis has plenty of reasons to remember his brief, if not prosperous, time in Foxborough: that season saw him earn 47 tackles and 14 pass breakups en route to his first first-team All-Pro selection since 2011. In the postseason trek, Revis had an interception in the AFC title game victory over Indianapolis and also had a sack in the championship win against Seattle.

This year's Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement is set for Aug. 5. Two days prior, the Jets will face the Cleveland Browns in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game to open the NFL preseason.
