Patriots Veteran WR Uninterested In Discussing DeAndre Hopkins

When asked to comment on free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, New England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker exhibited a lack of enthusiasm.

When New England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker addressed the media on Tuesday, he was questioned about his perspective on the possibility of the team bringing in All-Pro free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins

Unlike the enthusiastic responses and even recruitments from other Patriots players regarding the potential acquisition of Hopkins, Parker's reaction stood out as notably less passionate.

"I'm focused on us. Great player, but I'm just focused on us," said Parker.

Following his trade from the Miami Dolphins last offseason, Parker had a productive first season with New England. He recorded 31 receptions for 539 yards and three touchdowns. However, Parker's performance was hindered by injury-related absences, making it challenging for him and quarterback Mac Jones to establish a sustained connection throughout the season.

The potential acquisition of Hopkins by the Patriots could have noteworthy ramifications for Parker's role within the team. Given their shared proficiency as perimeter "X" receivers, Parker would likely experience a reduced role in the offense or even face the prospect of being released or traded. With Parker's one-year contract lacking guaranteed money, he becomes an enticing candidate for the Patriots to explore moving, thereby freeing up their financial commitments from his $6.2 million salary.

A resolution in the Hopkins free agency tour appears to be on the horizon as his visit with the Patriots is scheduled for Wednesday. This meeting can end the lingering questions and provide much-needed clarity on the composition of the Patriots' receiving corps as they prepare for training camp.
