Pre-Draft Visit: Patriots to Host Top CB Prospect

The New England Patriots are set to bring in Emmanuel Forbes on a pre-draft visit.

The New England Patriots could be considering drafting a cornerback with one of their top picks. One potential prospect to look out for is Emmanuel Forbes out of Mississippi State.

According to a report by NFL insider Jon Sokoloff, Forbes is set to visit the Patriots, among other teams, which include the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys.

"He said every team has reached out and at least one other visit is scheduled too," Sokoloff said.

Forbes was top three in the country with six interceptions, taking his career total to 14. But what is different about Forbes than the rest is his ability to turn defense into offense, as he set an NCAA record with six pick-sixes.

At 6-foot-1, Forbes brings the height of a Bill Belichick cornerback with some of the best ball skills in this year's draft class. But at 186 pounds, he is one of the lightest prospects.

Yet, drafting the ex-Bulldog would give New England a potential long-term starter on the perimeter of the Patriots' defense, playing alongside the re-signed Jonathan Jones. Forbes is a projected second-round selection, and if the Patriots draft him at No. 46 overall, it would be their third cornerback inside the top four rounds in the last two seasons.

The two others were Marcus and Jack Jones, both of whom stepped into prominent roles as rookies.
