New England Patriots Bill Belichick: From Hot Seat to 'Hot Ones'?
Bill Belichick is suddenly on the hot seat. Sean Evans, however, wants to someday offer him a hot plate.
Speaking recently with Fox Sports/NFL Network's Peter Schrager, the host of the popular YouTube celebrity talk show "Hot Ones" said that the New England Patriots head coach, as well as his former quarterback Tom Brady, as a dream guest on the eccentric Q&A session.
While the show, during which celebrity guests answer questions from Evans while consuming chicken wings covered in increasingly spicy hot sauces, doesn't appear to fit in Belichick's wheelhouse, that hasn't stopped Evans from trying.
It was, in fact, Schrager who suggested Belichick's prescience, referring to the longtime Patriots boss as "The Hoodie himself." With a smirk, Evans admits that he and his team have tried to procure Belichick's time and taste buds.
"I think we pitched him and (Nick) Saban, actually," Evans said, referring to the equally eternally stoic head coach of the University of Alabama football team. "But that's kind of our talk right now: we've done a lot of actors, so we start thinking about directors. We've done a lot of athletes so now we're starting to think about coaches as you widen the scope."
Evans believes that Belichick would be an interesting guest based on his rare openings during his press conferences, including a long diatribe about long snappers earlier this season.
"If you could tap it the right way, you could have one of the most compelling football interviews of anyone living."
Evans, who has appeared in nearly 300 episodes of "Hot Ones" since its debut in 2015, also referenced Brady as a highly-sought guest alongside injured New York Jets thrower Aaron Rodgers. Previous NFL figures to appear on "Hot Ones" include Travis Kelce, JJ Watt, and Brady's fellow former Belichick protege Rob Gronkowski.
