Patriots Icon Tom Brady Reveal: 'Why I Wouldn't Choose Football for My Son'
A daughter or son trying to follow the life path of a parent is one of the most natural occurrences there is. It's what the kid knows. It's a foundational part of his life. It's in his genes.
But Tom Brady, the retired New England Patriots legend, has other ideas for Jack (age 15), Benny (12) and Vivi (9). People magazine talked to the GOAT about eldest son's Jack's football path.
"I wouldn’t choose for (Jack) to do (continue playing football) because there’s too many crazy expectations that people would put on him,'' Brady said. "Most of them probably very unfair, actually.
Jack over the years was frequently seen attending practice with his dad and he has been a football player ... a quarterback, it seems.
"Yeah, he played this last year and I don't even know if he's going to play next year," Brady said. "And to be honest, whatever he chooses, I'll be very happy. But he loves lacrosse ... basketball's probably his favorite sport, but he's a very good student."
Clearly, Brady, now 45 and mapping out his post-NFL life (no, he's not making a comeback to the playing field), is not going to push the kids into his sport.
"I hope he finds (Jack) finds things in his life that allow him to get up every day to be internally motivated to work hard at something he loves to do," Brady said. "So, whatever path he chooses in life – or my son Benny or my daughter Vivi – whatever they choose, I’m there to support them, just like my dad supported me.
"I was very lucky,'' the future Hall of Famer Brady said, "to find something that I loved to do."
