'Not the Same!': Patriots' Jack Jones Rejects Ja Morant Comparison

Despite their recent gun-related transgressions, New England Patriots' cornerback Jack Jones shut down anyone trying to compare him to embattled NBA superstar Ja Morant.

Jack Jones says that anyone comparing him to Ja Morant is throwing up an airball.

The New England Patriots' cornerback has received the comparison criticism since his June arrest at Logan Airport after two guns were found in his luggage. Morant, a two-time NBA All-Star with the Memphis Grizzlies, has been disciplined for several firearm-related incidents - most recently for brandishing a gun during a live stream on his Instagram - earning him a 25-game suspension at the start of next season.

Jones took to Twitter on Tuesday to reject the idea of comparisons to Morant.

"Y’all twitters birds," Jones wrote. "I’ll never argue wit nerds.. me and ja not the same." [sic]

Tuesday saw Jones post to his account for the first time since June 15 and the first time since his arrest. A firearm-related arrest was seen as ironic by some after Jones chastised Morant in May, telling him to "put them guns down and run that money up" in a post.

As it stands, Jones is due to appear in court on Aug. 18, the day before the Patriots play their second preseason game in Green Bay. He previously entered a not guilty plea four days after his arrest, and is expected to be at New England's training camp starting July 25 in Foxboro.

A fourth-round arrival out of Arizona State in the 2022 draft, Jones is set to enter his second season in Foxborough. In 13 appearances (2 starts), he picked up 30 tackles, six pass breakups, and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
