Patriots Ex Jimmy Garoppolo Cut By Raiders, Signs With New Team
Following his release from the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday, it didn't take long for former New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to find a new home.
As first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the 32-year-old has agreed to a one-year deal that will see him join the Los Angeles Rams as their backup quarterback to Matthew Stafford.
Despite finding success early in his post-Patriots career, even helping lead the San Francisco 49ers to the doorstep of a Super Bowl back in 2020, that can likely be considered the peak of Garoppolo's career so far.
In the three seasons after the Super Bowl appearance, Garoppolo would be hampered by injuries, playing in just 32 games. However, it was his foot injury in 2022 that ultimately led to Brock Purdy's emergence and his eventual signing with the Raiders.
Despite optimism that Garoppolo's reunion with former Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels would get the 32-year-old's career back on track, it proved even more disastrous.
Garoppolo played just seven games last season for the Raiders, throwing for 1,205 yards, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Following McDaniel's firing, Garoppolo finished the season as the backup to rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell.

Now, Garoppolo will look for a fresh start with the Rams, where he'll play under one of the league's top offensive minds in coach Sean McVay while sitting behind Stafford.
