Freaky Friday: Patriots Practice Together Not in Uniform But in Costumes - WATCH
Halloween is six months in the distance, the first official day of offseason workouts isn't until Monday and - in case you haven't noticed - the New England Patriots are embroiled in their share of controversy.
None of that, however, stopped players from having some fun Friday during an informal workout. In a video posted to receiver Tyquan Thornton's Instagram account, several Patriots were working out while ... wearing funky, funny costumes.
It appears Thornton donned a shaggy wig and oversized gold chain, while quarterback Mac Jones (wig and baseball cap), receiver Tre Nixon (Hawaiian shirt and bucket cap) and running back J.J. Taylor (black Zorro mask) all partook in the festivities. Quarterback Bailey Zappe was there in what looked like standard workout attire, while a player in a yellow No. 69 jersey and lacrosse helmet couldn't be clearly identified.
Granted it's only a quick snippet of a video, but it certainly seems to suggest at least a handful of players not only working together but also having fun while doing so.
The comic respite is a welcomed sight for Pats fans who have been besieged this offseason by a slew of stories focusing on Jones' seemingly tenuous status as the starting quarterback and even him being put on the trading block by coach Bill Belichick.
Next up for New England is the start of the offseason program Monday, followed by the NFL Draft April 27 and the first official minicamp of the 2023 season May 22.
