Patriots Matthew Judon Reveals Level of Trust in Mac Jones

Even after a sophomore slump of a season from New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, Matthew Judon still believes in the former first-round pick.

The New England Patriots fell short of their expectations in 2022, finishing the season 7-10, and watching the playoffs from the comfort of their home.

While the struggles of the Patriots' offense were a constant source of frustration, even as quarterback Mac Jones looked to have regressed after a promising rookie campaign. But those inside the locker room haven't lost confidence in the former Alabama product.

"I think we've got a great deal of confidence in Mac," star edge rusher Matthew Judon said to NFL.com during last weekend's Pro Bowl Games. "And we're gonna see, because we know what type of player he can be. We're going to be backing him just as long as he's our quarterback. I don't plan that he's going anywhere anytime soon."

The stagnation of the New England offense ultimately made it make a change at offensive coordinator, ousting Matt Patricia in favor of bringing back former Pats coach Bill O'Brien.

O'Brien, a veteran play-caller, will look to get Jones back to the level of play he displayed in his rookie season. Jones completed 67.6 percent of his passes while throwing for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns as he guided the Patriots to a 10-7 season.
