Mind-Blowing Stat: New England Patriots' Offense Hits Historic Low

The New England Patriots "accomplished" a feat not seen in 30 years with Sunday's 10-7 loss to the New York Giants.

Just when it seems like the New England Patriots have hit rock bottom, they find a way to go down even further.

Sunday's game against the New York Giants, another team near the bottom of the NFL standings, may have been the most painful one yet. While the defense held up relatively well, the offense was non-existent once again. Thanks largely to three interceptions between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, the Patriots fell to the Giants 10-7, the latest embarrassment in a season full of them.

This game bore an eerie resemblance to the one before it, a 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany on Nov. 12. As it turns out, the resemblance goes deeper than just the final score.

According to ESPN, the Patriots are the first team in the last 30 years to lose consecutive games despite holding both of their opponents to 10 points or fewer.

The ironic part is the Patriots actually gained more yards than their opponents in both of these games. They gained 340 yards to the Colts' 264, then had 283 yards to the Giants' 220. Even with more yards, it's hard to win a game when losing the turnover battle, which New England did in both games.

At this point, anything that could go wrong for the Patriots' offense has this season. They rank 31st in scoring (ironically only ahead of the Giants) and 26th in scoring. Their quarterbacks are all struggling, the run game has rarely gotten going, there's no true top option among the receivers and the offensive line is among the worst in football, and that's probably not even all of it.

Now at 2-9, their worst record through 11 games in 30 years, the Patriots are probably just begging for this season to end.
