WATCH: Another Mac Jones Pick 6, New England Patriots Blown Out by New Orleans Saints

The New England Patriots find themselves in a dishearteningly familiar position in their Week 5 matchup with the New Orleans Saints at Gillette Stadium.

FOXBORO — It is looking a lot like a bad case of deja vu for the New England Patriots in the early stages of their Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints at Gillette Stadium.

Facing third-and-6 form their own 24 yard-line, Pats quarterback Mac Jones was hit as he attempted to make an ill-advised throw intended for running back Rhamondre Stevenson. Unfortunately, Jones was unable to put any authority on the wobbly short toss, which was intercepted for a touchdown by Saints defensive back Tyrann Mathieu.

For Jones, it was not only another catastrophic mistake, but it was also his third pick-six on the season. In the process,

On their ensuing offensive drive, a missed 48-yard field goal from kicker Chad Ryland would keep the score at 7-0 in favor of the Saints. Quarterback Derek Carr and New Orleans capped an eight play 62-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run from back Alvin Kamara to put the Saints on top 14-0.

The Patriots eventually fell behind, 21-0.

The Patriots are hoping to avoid falling to 1-4, while also attempting to put their agonizing 38-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys behind them. Conversely, the Saints are looking to end a two-game losing streak. Despite a 2-0 start to the season, New Orleans was upset 26-9 at home by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday.

Despite being listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report, running back Rhamondre Stevenson (thigh) and cornerback Jonathan Jones (ankle) are active and are playing against the Saints.

Lastly, having rejoined his former team just four days ago, cornerback J.C. Jackson is in uniform and is expected to see action on Sunday. The ex-Pat, turned Los Angeles Charger, was reacquired via trade in the aftermath of the season-ending shoulder injury to rookie Christian Gonzalez
