Jets 'Mad' at Belichick, Patriots For NFL Draft Trade?

The New England Patriots have won 14 straight matchups against their AFC East foe New York Jets, but did this year's draft solidify another victory?
In this story:

Recent history has not been kind for the New York Jets against their AFC East rival New England Patriots. Over the past seven seasons, the Pats have won 14 consecutive meetings. New England hasn't lost to the Jets since 2015.

But Pats' coach Bill Belichick's dominance does not stop on the gridiron, continuing with him scrapping the Jets' recent draft plans

"Many around the league suspected the Jets, picking No. 15 overall, were eyeing Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones, who went to Pittsburgh at No. 14 because of New England's trade," ESPN writes. "The Jets' legwork for some of the top tackles, Jones included, was not a secret. When we asked an AFC exec whether the Jets should be frustrated with Pittsburgh, the exec jokingly countered, 'They should be mad at the Patriots. They knew what was going on'."

Entering this year's draft with its highest pick in 15 years (No. 14), New England traded down three spots to No. 17 with the Pittsburgh Steelers while also securing a fourth-round pick (No. 120) in the process. With the No. 14 selection Pittsburgh drafted the aforementioned Jones, while the Patriots drafted arguably the best cornerback in this year's class in Oregon's Christian Gonzalez.

The Jets went on to select Iowa State defensive end Will McDonald IV at No. 15, who many projected as a late first-round or early Day 2 selection.

Considering Belichick's brief-but-ugly history working for the Jets, some believe he'll never miss a chance to stick to his old employers. But it should be noted that the Pats and Jets orchestrated a trade later in the recent draft. So at least the teams are on talking terms.
