Patriots Running Back Named To NFL 'All-Breakout' Team
NFL.com recently compiled its 2023 NFL All-Breakout Team, and New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson has been included in the list.
Stevenson played a significant role in the Patriots' rushing attack last season. He amassed an impressive 1,040 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Additionally, he showcased his versatility as a weapon in the passing game, recording a team-leading 69 receptions for 420 yards and a touchdown.
Stevenson further solidified his role as the Patriots' primary running back, surpassing Damien Harris in terms of playing time. Pro Football Focus statistics reveal that Stevenson enjoyed a significant advantage with 699 total snaps, while Harris trailed behind with just 238 snaps. Harris' injury setbacks provided Stevenson with the opportunity to establish himself as the dominant force in the Patriots' running back group, further emphasizing his growing importance to the team.
According to NFL.com, the play-action passing game is expected to benefit both quarterback Mac Jones and Stevenson. With the departure of Harris from the team to Buffalo, Stevenson now has the potential for even greater opportunities to make a significant impact, as highlighted by NFL.com.
"Bill O'Brien will put the ball in the hands of the rugged runner to set the table for Mac Jones and a complementary play-action passing game," NFL.com writes. "Not to mention, New England's second-leading rusher from 2022, Damien Harris, departed in free agency to Buffalo. So this is Rhamondre's show. As a three-down playmaker with the size, strength and skill to shoulder a heavy workload, Stevenson could post big numbers this season."
With his immense potential, Stevenson is poised for a remarkable season ahead. New England will heavily depend on his productivity to remain competitive in the fiercely contested AFC East division.
