The New England Patriots are not "officially'' having dinner with former Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott on Saturday after a visit to Foxboro. But they are having dinner with him, nevertheless.

Contrary to many reports, Zeke isn’t done in Boston, as as CowboysSI.com “spy” has photo evidence that Elliott is still in Boston as of Saturday night … and is being taken to dinner on a “recruiting” tour with Patriots QB Mac Jones and other New England representatives as they hang out at a place called “Mooo Restaurant.”

And here's our "spy's'' photographic evidence ... (Sidebar: We are working to give direct and full credit to the "spy.'' Stay tuned. ...)

The Pats’ investigation into Dalvin Cook is a factor here. It has been weeks in the making after the Vikings cut the four-time Pro Bowler. And Elliott, the two-time NFL rushing champ? He has been slower to get on teams’ radar … but now the Pats are intensifying their examination of a backfield addition to work behind starter Rhamondre Stevenson.

Zeke ran for 876 yards last year, the worst numbers of his seven-year career with the Cowboys. However, it was still an effective season in some ways. … as he was good for 12 TDs.

Elliott has been a $15 million APY in Dallas - that is the central reason he was released here. The market for running backs right now will of course not support that sort of salary.

ESPN reports that Belichick quizzed COO Stephen Jones of the Dallas front office to gain info before arranging the visit.

But now we can report that in addition to scary weather in New England that might preclude Elliott from leaving town anyway … his addition to the Pats backfield is still in play as we continue to report that Zeke returning to Dallas is not and has never been the plan as the Cowboys turn the page to Tony Pollard. But he can only help the Pats. … at the right price for both parties. …

Something that is surely being discussed by Zeke and Mac tonight at "Mooo.''
