Has 'The Dynasty' Turned Patriots Fans Against Robert Kraft?

Some New England Patriots fans are finding the docuseries "The Dynasty" geared too far in the favor of owner Robert Kraft after comments from Rodney Harrison and Devin McCourty.

The final chapters of "The Dynasty" have brought anything but a Hollywood ending.

Select legions of New England Patriots fans taking in the Apple TV+ docuseries, which released the last of 10 episodes last week, are offering a common criticism, insisting that the content and confessionals seem to skew in favor of team owner Robert Kraft.

Such supporters seem particularly perturbed over the series' treatment of head coach Bill Belichick, who appears to get the brunt of the blame for the eventual dissolution of the Patriots' glory days, a process headlined by quarterback Tom Brady's highly-publicized departure from the team in 2019.

Those Patriots fans have offered their reviews on social media, vocally vexed by the framing of Belichick as a villain of sorts.

Such analysis isn't limited to the fanbase, as participants and former New England defenders Rodney Harrison and Devin McCourty each hinted that the film seemed a tad too critical of Belichick, who formed Foxborough's leadership triumvirate alongside Kraft and Brady.

McCourty went as far as to say that he felt "duped" by the production and hinted that material that painted Belichick in a better light was left on the cutting room floor.

Matthew Hamachek, who directed each of the 10 episodes of "The Dynasty" remarked that the Kraft family "had no editorial control over this thing whatsoever" in an interview on WBZ-FM. Others, however, will perhaps point to Kraft's personal friendship with "The Dynasty" producer and high-ranking Hollywood Brain Grazer, who praised Kraft's collaboration in an interview with Justin Kroll of Deadline.

Belichick Treated Fairly in Patriots 'Dynasty'?

"Kraft embraces the truth on everything and that’s Bob’s value," Grazer said. "It’s like, tell the truth, be a good person. Those are the kind of people I like to be around. You know, he’s all about character and the truth. So even though he did get some pushback in different directions, he said, we’re doing this and we’re doing it with cooperation from everybody."

"If we couldn’t get it done, Bob was there to push it over and make it happen. I really see how he was so central in a winning dynasty, you know?"
