After a year away from football in 2023, New England Patriots legend Tom Brady is set to return to the sport in a big way this fall.

The 2024 season will mark Brady's first as Fox's lead color commentator, kicking off a gargantuan 10-year contract worth $375 million. Brady, who will become the highest-paid sports commentator ever, will work alongside lead play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt on Fox's feature game each week.

Many are looking forward to see the GOAT move up to the broadcast booth, but others have expressed their concerns with the whole situation. The biggest point of controversy has been Brady replacing Greg Olsen, Fox's previous top color commentator, without any prior experience in the field. On top of that, some have doubted that Brady will even complete his massive contract.

Patriots - Tom Brady Fox

On his Sports Media with Richard Deitsch podcast, the longtime analyst said it would be "inconceivable" if Brady stayed at Fox for the entire duration of his contract.

“I’d bet all the money I own that Tom Brady will not complete the Fox contract,” Deitsch said. “I can’t tell you how many years he will be there, but it seems inconceivable, to me, that he would be there for all 10.”

Deitsch also suggested that Olsen should stick around at Fox and wait for either another opportunity as a top color commentator or another network, or potentially replacing Brady if the legendary quarterback decides to step away.

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Deitsch's guest on the podcast, also believes that Brady is set up for success in the booth, in large part thanks to his partner.

“Kevin Burkhardt is a very good play-by-play’er, but what he’s really the best at is getting a lot out of his teammate,” Marchand said. “I think Olsen’s success had something to do with [having] Burkhardt as a partner. Kevin is unselfish, and wants his analyst to do well. He [made] it about Olsen, and he will make it about Brady. That’s a huge advantage for him that the point guard that he’s going to have is someone who wants to make him look good and put him in good situations to do well.”

Celtics' Historic Blowout Invokes Memories of Patriots' Super Bowl Comeback?

The vast majority of Patriots fans still love Brady, who led the team to six Super Bowls over his two decades in Foxboro, so it's safe to say he'll have plenty of followers in the next chapter of his career.
