Patriots Icon Tom Brady Increases Raiders Ownership Share?
Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's life after football continues to grow more expansive.
Just weeks after it was revealed Brady would be the No. 1 analyst on FOX's telecasts, the 47-year-old is now poised to take on a larger role in his ownership aspirations with the Las Vegas Raiders.
"Tom Brady’s pending investment into the Las Vegas Raiders, which has been held up for more than eight months, was recently revised to increase the valuation on the team, according to multiple people familiar with the matter," Sportico writes.
Brady's investment group, which also includes Knighthead Capital co-founder Tom Wagner, is attempting to buy just over a 10-percent ownership stake in the Raiders.
The move requires ownership approval, and there's no timetable on a decision for Brady's ascent to minority owner.
"In the last few months, the valuation on Brady's deal was raised to mirror the Raiders' valuation in an unrelated transaction from earlier in 2023, one source said," Sportico writes. "League staffers, lawyers and financial advisors continue to perform diligence on the Brady group's agreement."
Brady and Raiders owner Mark Davis reached an agreement in May 2023 for the seven-time Super Bowl winner to become a minority owner, sparked by their past relationship.
Davis is the owner of the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces, whom Brady also has a minority stake in. Brady needs affirmation from a three-fourths majority of NFL owners to officially gain stake in the Raiders.
Upon his likely acceptance, Brady doesn't anticipate being heavily involved - but that doesn't override his excitement.
"I'll be playing a very passive role," Brady told the Associated Press. "This is something I'm interested in doing for the rest of my life. I've got a lot of responsibility with my Fox job, which I take very seriously. But if I'm looking over the course of my life, to have the opportunity to be involved in the NFL is a dream come true."

Brady went 5-1 against the Raiders in his playing days. Now, he's trying to bring those winning ways to Las Vegas - though at an increased cost to be granted the opportunity to do so.
