QB Scramble: Tom Brady Patriots Photo Fumbled Into Hands of Unsuspecting Family
You can't blame Tom Brady for this turnover.
The Tonges family, apparently based in the Bay Area, landed an unexpected piece of Brady memorabilia this week. Having ordered photos from a local CVS, the matriarch was surprised to discover a picture of Brady packed among their own. The surprise amused her daughter, Katie, who documented the mix-up on TikTok.
The photo in question will likely be familiar to fans of Brady's primary NFL employers, the New England Patriots, as it depicts Brady and his children Jack, Benjamin, and Vivian at Gillette Stadium at his longtime stomping grounds of Gillette Stadium. Foxborough welcomed Brady and his family back to retire the No. 12 he wore on his Patriots jersey for over two decades prior to their Week 1 showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Brady commented on Katie's TikTok post from his own account, remarking that his mother Galynn "must have been printing out some photos in San Francisco."
Adding another sense of football fate to the story is the fact that Katie's brother Jake is currently enlisted as a tight end on the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad. Brady, a native of nearby San Mateo, grew up a 49ers fan, idolizing the legendary quarterback Joe Montana and frequently attending games at Candlestick Park.
Jake Tonges, a Cal-Berkeley alum, appeared in four games with the Chicago Bears last season. Both he and Katie appear in the photo with two others, with one appearing to be wearing Jake's No. 88 49ers jersey. Per Katie's TikTok, the photo was intended to be a Christmas gift for their grandmother.
