Patriots Make Trade Calls on Star WRs - Sign Chiefs’ JuJu Smith-Schuster
The New England Patriots were hungry for big-time receiver help, and that was going to be the case even without Jakobi Meyers leaving for Las Vegas.
So, what's the next Patriots shoe to drop? The JuJu shoe.
We have already chronicled the Patriots' likely interest in trade talks involving Arizona Cardinals wideout DeAndre Hopkins. Those are now occurring, per The Athletic, which also reports that New England has talked with Denver about Jerry Jeudy.
We can put Houston Texans speedster Brandin Cooks on the wish list, and the Boston Herald reported that a call has been made on Chiefs receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
And now we know JuJu is signing with the Pats.
Denver wants "at least a first-round pick'' for Jeudy. Hopkins, a five-time Pro Bowler, can be had for a "premium second-day pick and a player.”
JuJu? He may be a showboat … but now he’s New England’s showboat.
Odell Beckham Jr. was on the list, too, and so is the NFL Draft.
Having said all of that ... the 2023 draft class is rich in receiver talent, meaning that the Pats could secure a game-changing pass catcher within the first three rounds. Top-flight receivers such as Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, TCU’s Quentin Johnson and Boston College’s Zay Flowers have received first-round grades.
One way or another, New England wanted to add juice at the wideout spot. And that has resulted in JuJu juice.
