Patriots Reveal Training Camp Practice Times
FOXBORO — As the rock band Thin Lizzy once enthusiastically declared in their 1976 hit, "The Boys Are Back in Town." Well, almost.
Next week, the New England Patriots will take the practice fields adjacent to Gillette Stadium for their first organized team practice of 2023 training camp. Pats rookies are set to report July 21, while veteran players are required to report to camp July 25. New England’s initial session is scheduled for July 26, with open practices also confirmed for July 27-28. The team will be off on July 29, while their fourth open practice will be held on July 30.
Practices from Wednesday through Friday will begin at 9:30 a.m. ET, with practices expected to conclude by 11:30. Sunday's practice time has yet to be confirmed.
Though all eyes will understandably be on Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe and the quarterback position, Patriots Nation is also eager to get its first look at new additions such as receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, tight end Mike Gesicki, and rookies Christian Gonzalez and Keion White.
All outdoor training camp practices are open and free to the public. Gates will open one hour prior to practice and close one hour after players leave the field.
This year marks the 63rd training camp for the Patriots, including their 21st consecutive camp at Gillette Stadium. Accordingly, fans will get the chance to watch their favorite Patriots in action, while getting a bird’s eye view at some some of the team’s most-compelling positional battles.
Attendees will also get the chance to enjoy games and activities — as well as photo opportunities with appearances by Pat Patriot, the Patriots Cheerleaders and Patriots Alumni. Autograph sessions with current players are also planned after each day of practice — a custom which had been temporarily suspended during 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 guidelines.
In addition, the Patriots announced that they will hold joint practice sessions at Green Bay on Aug. 16 and Aug. 17 prior to their preseason game against the Packers at Lambeau Field on Aug. 19 and at Tennessee on Aug. 22 and 23 prior to the preseason-finale against the Titans on Aug. 25. Originally slated as a pseudo-reunion with former linebacker and 2023 Patriots Hall of Fame Inductee Mike Vrabel [current head coach of the Titans,] New England will also get an up-close and personal look at receiver DeAndre Hopkins, whom they courted for much of the offseason.
The Patriots open their preseason slate at home against the Houston Texans on Aug. 10 at 7 p.m.
