New England Patriots vs. Las Vegas Raiders - How to Watch, Betting Odds, Familiar Foe
The Patriots head to the desert on Sunday to meet Josh McDaniels and the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in a matchup between familiar faces. Members of the two organizations are so acquainted with one another that ESPN referred to the matchup as "Patriots East against Patriots West."
New England has just one win on the season and is hoping for anything to kickstart the offense after losing its last two games by a combined score of 72-3. Starting quarterback Mac Jones was benched in both contests.
On the other side, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler are both former members of the Patriots organization. But the situation in Las Vegas might be only slightly better than the Patriots'. Monday night's win over the Packers helped slightly, landing the Raiders at 2-3.
"This is a team we certainly have a good level of familiarity with — eight guys on the coaching staff, five scouts, nine players, whatever it is," said Belichick, who remains stuck on 299 career victories. “A lot of guys that have been here that I’ve worked with, we’ve worked with. Josh has done a good job here molding the team together.”
Belichick says he stands with Jones under center, but how long can that last if the offense continues to struggle?
The Raiders are also searching for answers, mired in a six-game stretch in which the offense hasn't hit the 20-point mark.
“I feel like there’s more to take from a game than just the win or loss,” Raiders wideout Davante Adams said. "Obviously, you’d rather win, but you can win a game and look (expletive), and we’ve done that too many times. So you have to start changing the way it looks.”
