Patriots vs. Jets : Snow Angel Swan Song For Belichick?
If this is truly the end of the Bill Belichick era for the New England Patriots, perhaps a snowy Sunday in Foxboro is the perfect send-off.
Belichick and the Patriots conclude the 2023 season at home in Gillette Stadium for what could be the final time together. Reports out of Massachusetts have stated that while Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Belichick have not spoken regarding the future of the team, those conversations are expected to happen after the year is over.
The Patriots have one final regular season game though before those conversations happen. Their opponent? The one team that has been repeatedly spurned by "The Hoodie" for decades.
The New York Jets.
Gang Green enters Sunday's matchup 6-10, while to turn the page on what has been a disaster of a season. The addition of four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers was expected to end New York's 13-year playoff drought. Those dreams ended four plays into the season, though.
Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in the season-opening game against the Bills. New York quickly struggled from there on out. The Jets have potentially one final chance to give the coach who resigned a day into his tenure as the coach in 2000 one final loss and end a dubious slide.
New York has lost to New England in 15 straight games - a losing streak going back until the 2015 season.
Sunday's road contest could potentially be the last chance for the Jets to send Belichick into the unemployment line with a loss.
