Here Are Overall Ratings For Patriots' Offensive Players in Madden 21
The Madden video game franchise, which is set to release "Madden 21" on Aug. 25, released the ratings for every single player in the game late last week.
Here are the overall ratings for every player on the offensive side of the ball for the New England Patriots, starting with the quarterbacks:
Quarterback
- Cam Newton: 78
- Brian Hoyer: 62
- Jarrett Stidham: 61
- Brian Lewerke: 54
Wide Receiver
- Julian Edelman: 87
- Mohamed Sanu: 79
- Marqise Lee: 77
- N'Keal Harry: 74

- Quincy Adeboyejo: 62
- Gunner Olszewski: 60
Tight End
- Devin Asiasi: 69
- Dalton Keene: 66

Running Back
- James White: 82

Tackle
- Isaiah Wynn: 79
- Marcus Cannon: 76
- Yodny Cajuste: 60
- Justin Herron: 58
- Korey Cunningham: 56
The first surprise on this list is Cam Newton. As a former NFL MVP who has all the talent in the world, a 78 overall rating seems too low. His injury history could hamper his ability to succeed moving forward, but that doesn't merit a rating in the 70s. At the very least, Newton should be rated in the mid-to-low 80s.
The tight end position should get a spike in ratings after the first update once the season begins. Every single one of them is currently rated in the 60s, but I would expect Devin Asiasi and/or Dalton Keene to climb into the 70s after several games.
Shaq Mason (86) garnering a better rating than Thuney (85) is suspect. Thuney had an All-Pro season in 2019 while Mason did not, which is why Thuney should be rated in the 90s.
The ratings for the wide receiver group highlight the concerns the team has offensively. Julian Edelman (87) is the only pass-catcher rated above a 79, with five receivers rated at a 74 or below. The hope is that someone like second-year wideout N'Keal Harry can climb his way into the 80s, and possibly even Mohamed Sanu. But they will have to put up some strong, consistent performances in order to climb out of the 70s.
With New England's offensive line projected to return to their 2018 form, the backfield should see a bump in ratings once the 2020 season begins. The biggest spike in overall rating could happen for second-year running back Damien Harris, who has made a minimal impact thus far, which is why he was tagged with a 69 overall rating. If Michel starts the season on PUP and Harris takes some of the early-down workload, he should easily climb his way into the 70s. But if Michel starts the season a full go and performs well with his opportunities, he could climb a point or two higher.
