Report: Patriots sign OT Marshall Newhouse

New England adds some offensive tackle depth in wake of Marcus Cannon's injury.

The New England Patriots have signed offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse, according the ESPN Insider Field Yates. 

The Patriots are signing veteran OT Marshall Newhouse, per source. With Marcus Cannon nursing an injury, Newhouse adds depth along the offensive line.

Newhouse was added as assurance at tackle after starting right tackle Marcus Cannon suffered a shoulder injury in the team's Week 1 game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cannon isn't expected to miss time, but it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan in place. 

Newhouse is a nine-year pro, having previously played for the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills and most recently the Carolina Panthers. The veteran tackle has started 72 games in his career.
