Rumor: New England Patriots 'Secret' Plan To Play 'Multiple QBs' Vs Giants

The time is ticking down. The "drama'' - such as it is, because the New England Patriots are taking on the New York Giants in NFL Week 12 and ultimately this is going to be about which floundering franchise gets the higher pick in the NFL Draft - is about to end.

Unless, that is, Pats head coach Bill Belichick opts to continue his "Musical Chairs'' game even after the kickoff, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

That's right; Belichick, who has bobbed between "coy'' and "gruff'' with the media this week when it comes to who will start at QB this week, now figures to retain Mac Jones as his first-teamer. But ...

The Patriots will likely play both Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe Sunday vs. the Giants.

Now one report now suggests that in addition to Belichick keeping an open mind going into the game, he may do the same as the game goes on ... maybe even as part of a pre-planned effort that would see the Patriots play multiple quarterbacks in this game.

Both Jones and Bailey Zappe practiced with the first-team offense this week and were told by the coach to "be ready to go.''

The third QB, athletic rookie Malik Cunningham, is also hanging around here, though he has indicated he's not included in the possible rotation.

Bill Bullychick: Why Won't Patriots' Coach Name Starting QB?

In theory, Belichick. might think he's keeping the 3-8 Giants off-balance with his "secret.'' Unfortunately, it's just as likely that the 2-8 Patriots choosing to split first-team reps between Jones and Zappe this week - not even mentioning the shakiness of possibly planning to play both in the game - will be the ones who are off-balance.
